Grab one of these zero rate deals
We are, I suppose, used to mega pots of money being talked about in the media but it still comes as a surprise that £7 billion is expected to be shifted between credit cards in the first quarter of 2009, according to Abbey.
The money is following introductory balance transfer deals on credit cards and has become something of a tradition at this time of year. Those most likely to be making the switch are between 25-34 and living in the North of England or Scotland.
For some reason people aged 55-64 are less likely to take advantage of this deal. That is surprising because, if you are trying to manage credit card debt, these introductory schemes area godsend. Indeed, even if you can quite happily manage your card balance, it is rather like looking a gift horse in the mouth not to take up a free credit offer.
As you attempt to balance the competing financial demands of daily living, utility bills, personal loan repayments etc. don’t overlook these zero per cent transfer offers – they could make all the difference to your start to 2009.
